Earphones don't stay in my ears

Besides the problem that the iPod doesn't work is a more important problem. The earphones won't stay in my ear. I looked at someone else’s ears and they have a small area on the outside of their ears which helps make a concave area or ledge in which the earphone can sit. The earphones just fall off. There must be a solution; others must have the same problem. Is there another manufacture with a different solution?
