My issue should be simple. When I first installed Apple TV, I was able to stream photos to the TV . After a few months, when I tried, there was a requirement to use HomeSharing. I selected that and it asked for a password. I'll go out on a limb and assume it is my basic Apple password. Question is this: Where do I type in the password? There was no location shown.

there are appleID password this is your private password
and there is shared itunes lib password this you give to all macs and ios devices which should be allowed to share your itunes lib
the later one set in the preferences in itunes on the computer
What is the procedure to get a Home Sharing password?
You have to setup home sharing on your computer. When doing this you use an Apple ID and password, these are the crendentials you use to enable it on ATV
