Cannot compose or reply to emails

I cannot compose or respond to emails on my iPhone 5c. I can read them. My iPad mini is working fine but not my phone.

iPhone 5c, iOS 7.1

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.


If you're not able to compose or respond to email on your iPhone, first force the Mail app to close:

  1. Double-click the Home button.
  2. Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
  3. Swipe the app's preview up to close it.

If the behavior continues, try these steps next:

  1. Restart your iOS device.
  2. Delete the affected email account from your device.
    • Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    • Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
    • Add your account again.
