Wireless synch is inconsistent with IoS 7.1.

Works when plugged into computer but only occaisionally wirelessly. Using I Tunes for sync and Win7 Music syncs and sometimes other stuff such as contacts and calendar. Calendar and Contacts are most important for me to sync so how do I get it to work more smoothly? This is a Home WiFi and I'm sitting nest to the router with a strong WiFi signal showing on the phone.
