When I first got my 5s, I connected to car's bluetooth with no problem. After I downloaded an upgrade, I had to reconnect it but this time my phone is asking for a "PIN". I tried my passcode but that is not it. Does anyone know what this is?

Whenever you pair a new device, it should provide you with a PIN to enter on the phone. Did the phone pair without a PIN? Check your vehicle's manual and see if it is listed there. Generally vehicles that have systems with Bluetooth also come with a separate card/flyer that describes pairing a vehicle with other Bluetooth device. Another option is to call the local dealer and ask them. Most of their service departments are aware of it.

I followed my car (2012 Honda Civic ) manual instructions and the PIN number supposedly should come up on the display screen and then I should enter it into the phone when prompted but it never displayed the number. So I guess this is a question for Honda. Thanks for all the suggestions. BTW, I did try to enter numbers like 0000, 1111, 1234, 9999 and did not work either. Thanks . I guess I don't get it because I have successfully connected before without a PIN. I did have my previous IPhone 4 connected for a couple of years.
Apart from above,BMWs for instance,have a discrete code which is normally printed on a card with Bluetooth enabled vehicles different for each vehicle
