iPod classic jammed. how can i un jam it?

My iPod classic is stuck in reset mode, it was trying to download something that didn't download properly which jammed the iPod, I've been trying to reset it on the computer but now the computer doesn't even recognize that its plugged in. What can i do to get it out of this continuous cycle of reseting itself and then jamming while its trying to reset?
