    MBA?

I have an Airport Time Capsule. -I watched a tutorial where the iPhotolibrary icon is dragged to an external, just like that?

    Thanks Léonie!

Does this bring up this panel?

Yes, that is it exactly. Then I delete the files from the trash, as always. I was just trying to clear up space to paste the Master file back into iPhoto and didn't have enough space. So I erased everything from iTunes and discovered that the Music folder still have way to much memory space in use. So looked at the files and found tonnes of files still there.

That can happen, if you accidentally erased music and did not enable "Move to Trash"; then the song will stay in the iTunes library.  By default "Keep File" is enabled.

It is, but use a directly connected drive, not a network volume. iPhoto has not been designed for network access to the library. But before you transfer the library it should be in best repair, with no permission issues. Otherwise it will not copy well. And the drive needs to be formatted for photo libraries - MacOS Extended (Journaled),  see this:  Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library - the document is written for Aperture, but since iPhoto and Aperture use the same libraries, it holds for iPhoto as well.

Your iTunes library could go onto your Airport Time Capsule.

If you want to delete audio tracks from the iTunes library and move the tracks to the Trash bin in the Dock use the Option+Commnad+Delete key combination.

You will get this confirmation window:

Click on the Move to Trash button and empty the Trash bin in the Dock.  That will remove the audio tracks from your hard drive to free up space on the HD.

Hello Old Toad. I hope it's ok to insert myself into this thread. Here is a link to the previous discussion, the suggestions of which I have tried and have not worked for me. I hope the copied link works... and that it's ok to use this method to show you what I've tried so far. (I apologize for lack of paragraphs in the first part. Just let me know if I should copy and paste the conversation, instead.)

Per Terrence's suggestion, after all else failed, I tried to start the library from scratch from your instructions, but when I drag the folders (that are in years) from the originals folder, into the iphoto window, I get the same message I get when I try to rebuild a library using iplm.

"Unreadable files: 1"   "the following file could not be imported. (the file is in an unrecognizable format)"

Is there anything else I can try? Thank you.

    Alice
