I AM A DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGYST IN EARLY STAGES OF STARTING  A TELERADIOLOGY SERVICE USING THE NEW MAC PRO COMBINED WITH OSIRIX SOFTWARE.   OSIRIX RECOMMENDS RAID 5 , NEED TO KNOW BEST WAY TO IMPLEMENT THIS RECOMMENDATION.

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS ARE USING REMOTE DESK AS WELL AS   XSERVER.

First, like many things, I think OSIRIX won't work with CAPS LOCK ON ALL THE TIME.

There are various reasons to use RAID, the main ones are capacity, redundancy and performance.

In this case I assume that data resiliency is key - you don't want to lose data - so redundancy is key, and RAID 5 is a good option.

The actual implementation depends on your hardware, though - what are you planning on running this on?

NO current Mac model can handle internal RAID 5 - there are not enough drive bays or hardware support. That means you're likely looking at external arrays. For that there are multiple options, so the main issue now is one of capacity (how much space do you need) and cost (bearing in mind if this is critical data you don't want to go cheap).

A good starting point might be someone like Promise. They have many array options.
