Whatsapp is not an Apple developed app. You might want to contact the Whatsapp developers to see if they can help you with this.
I've had the same issue, contacted Whatsapp and they said to remove the screen protector, I wasn't sure if that would work but it actually worked, so if you've got a screen protector on remove it and it should works.
I have the same problem and I dont believe the screen protector is one of the reasons. I figured out if you slide a bit to the left after the pressed to record, the length will increase to more than10 seconds. But you have to acoid sliding too much that it deletes the voice message. Hope it works for you as well!! 🙂
