My guess is the preferences file (plist file) may still have it listed as an installed app. I am not in front of my computer, to guide you however you can remove that preference and this may fix it. However before going to that length did you follow the developers instructions for uninstalling the app and if not please advise EXACTLY how you uninstalled it.

executing this on a Terminal is how I fixed it

That's about how I would have suggested it but rather than using Terminal probably woudld have use the graphical interface. However glad you figured it out.
