Polish Pro letters problem

Hi, I have a problem with writing polish letters with Option + Letter command. It just doesn't work. I'm not a newcomer to Macs but I've recently bought MacBook Pro, launched Sys. Preferences > International and ticked "Polish Pro" in Input Tab. Nothing happenes. Additionally, in Keyboard Viewer, when I push Option button, it doesn't highlight but I'm sure it's working.. Can someone please figure it out? Thanks!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

You clicked Polish Pro on the Input menu in System Preferences International with the Input Menu tab selected.

Did you tick "show menu input in menu bar" at the foot of that dialog box?

Did you then click the flag at the top of the screen, in the menu bar, and select the Polish Pro flag?

I'm using a PPC not Intel, but there should be no difference.

yeah, i did it. i have also ticked show keyboard viewer and now i have realised that when i push Option and Ctrl key they dont highlight like they were unavailable..... shortcuts with those keys wont work either hmmm... do you think it might be a mechanical physical issue???? ****, my Mac is brand new...

You probably need a new keyboard. I had one drop of water spilt on my brand new iBook, and three keys were dead forever.
