Q: Strange colours from Dell u2713H anyone?

Hi everyone

I currently own an i1Display pro and have been calibrating my MBP and my iMac at work to very satisfying results.

However, I just can't seem to get accurate colour from my Dell u2713H. I've tried calibrating it while it was connected to my MBP (2013 retina display)

and I've tried calibrating it with my new Macpro some results.

At first glance the results might seem okay, that is until you come across thing that have red or pink in them. The pink and reds seem to shift in hue and are insanely saturated and bright - just the reds spectrum.

Compared to my iMac at work and Macbookpro, the skintones from the Dell look too saturated, containing too much red.

But here's the twist.

The footage that seemed so oddly pink/red and saturated while in my editing softwarerevert back to the normal saturation and hue levels when I view the footage AFTER I export it. In fact, it looks identical to when I view it on my other calibrated devices.

Similarly, if I take a screen capture of whats on my browser window, the abnormal wild pinks and reds of a live site are rendered normally only when I take a screen capture of it and look at it via preview.

super weird. This problem is the same with both my new Macpro and my 2013 Retina Mbp.

Has anyone faced this problem running their Mac system with the u2713h?

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you in advance!

    Hi,

I have a Macbook Pro Retina 13 and Dell u2713H. I'm using a Colormunki Photo (only just purchased, and admittedly a bit of a newbie to colour management). I haven't quite got the two screens looking exactly the same yet, but what I can say is that when I first got the Dell it looked awful, until I found this overide searching on the web, and it helped hugely, now the Dell is beautiful. So perhaps this will help, if not solve your issue...

    I installed the link U2713H_U2713HM_Mac_EDID_override.zip

And are you aware that because the Dell is a wide gamut screen (RGB vs sRGB), you will see a wider/more intense spectrum of colours (as more professional printers can output). The imac and Retina screens are not wide gamut. Safari is colour managed to display images correctly (according to the colour space of the image), but other applications may not (i.e. Chrome).

Hope this helps, and please post any success when you finally resolve it.

    Cheers

    Hi!

Thanks a lot for your answer. Silly me, I completely forgot about the wide sRGB vs adobe RGB thing. I turned on the sRGB emulator on the u2713h, recalibrated and boom-It's beautiful now. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply Lanny!
