I believe your primary problem is you downloaded and installed:

com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper.plist Support

Follow the developers instructions for uninstalling MacKeeper, this is almost certainly one major cause of your problems. OS X is not like MS Windows that requires third party utilities to remain stable. Do not, repeat do not install any "performance", anitivirus/malware, cleaning etc apps on a Mac, not only are they 100% unecessary they will cause many more problems than they solve.

In the event you have any other "performance", anitivirus/malware, cleaning etc apps installed on your iMac follow the developers instructions for uninstalling it. Then restart the computer in Safe Mode (hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup tone until a progress bar appears) then restart normally and test.

Good luck.

rkaufmann is right, uninstall MacKeeper. But I think you did that already but not good enough. If you did we will remove the 'leftovers ' later, if you still have it installed, follow the uninstall instructions on the zeobit site.

Then uninstall the WesternDigital software (they call it 'smart' software) that came with a WD disk, that can seriously trouble your system...

For now I have several questions befor we really start the cleaning and one instruction:

Instruction:

go to SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LogintItems : remove all entries there, with the minus sign underneath (there is crapware in it, also counterproductie ware in it). Then restart and empty the trash bin. Manually Start an app when you need it, and Quit after you have used it. Do not start/quit tools and the like.

Questions:

1. do you really need the windows keyboard drivers (I don't think so).

2. do you have any HP equipment, if yes, which?

3. What sound apps do you have, and which one can't you do without?

Hi dreuid1, Do as rkaufmann said, post the link to that thread here, so that we find you fast. Your mac has or had hacked applications, your hosts file is compromised, you have the wrong software in the startup folder: we have a lot do clean.

btw: etrecheck list is not really a 'diagnostic' it is more a description of your mac, so that we do not have to ask a lot of questions, or recommend a script.
