Q: iTunes 11.2 crashing

I just upgraded iTunes and OS X Mavericks to the latest versions (11.2 and 10.9.3 respectively). iTunes now crashes consistently (100%). It runs for about 10 seconds and then it's spinning beach ball time. I re-downloaded and re-installed iTunes 11.2 with the same results. I tried selecting another iTunes library (on my network attached server) on start-up and it does the same. Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Hi,  I have also been having all these issues on this problem.  Why are we all trying so hard to fix the problem if apple has issued the updates and alot of us are still having issues.  Does it not mean the original issue is not completely fixed and alot of us are messing around with our configurations of deleting files and etc etc.  I myself am not as good as alot of people here who know how to do all this and as a apple customer would beleive apple to solve this kind of problem as if we cannot sink our phones or whatever other issues some of us have they are going to loose potential money for us to use their Itunes eco system.

I think we should all be sending them mails and calling them so they can understand their problem  Or there should be a better way for us to approach them on this.

    What can we do?

Yeah, I am really starting to think the issue is Bonjour. I still have a ton of bonjour errors in Windows Event Viewer. ERROR: handle_resolve_request bad interfaceIndex 22  and this one Client application bug: DNSServiceResolve(***apple-mobdev2._tcp.local.) active for over two minutes. This places considerable burden on the network. It is not happy. Apple defnitely needs to fix it.

Deleting the SyncServices folder didn't work for me (although I had the same spinning wheel and iTunes became unresponsive while grabbing 100% of my CPU). Only a reinstall from an old iTunes version worked (11.5 in my case) - it sets me back a few weeks, but at least it works again. Thanks.

For me, it was definitely iTunes Match.  A week or so ago I did a clean reinstall of Mavericks and started over from scratch with iTunes.  Ran it with no problems for a week.  Today, decided to turn on iTunes Match again.  After running through that whole process, went in to clean up some mis-tagged tunes.  On the third one (changing the Genre) - got the dreaded ball of death.

Right before I did this - I did a full Time Machine backup so am now in the process of restoring my Macbook (again).  iTunes Match is a fiasco.  I really, really, really, am done with it now.

For what it is worth, I have never implemented iTunes Match, but still had the crashing problem.  I am staying on 11.1 until Yosemite comes out.  Perhaps there will be another interim fix of iTunes, but since I never had any of the symptoms that were "addressed" by 11.2.1 and 11.2.2, and these updates failed to fix the crashing, I will likely just wait it out.  I never had issues updating iTunes on a 2009 iMac running Mavericks, but there is something, perhaps, about my MBPro Retina that is odd.  When Yosemite comes out, I will do a clean install and anyway.   So, in the meantime I will be a bit out of date.

This Apple support fix solved my problem!  iTunes 11.2.2 would crash every time: 1) tried to sync and backup my iPhone 5,  2)  Tried to refresh my podcast subscriptions.

I have MacBook Pro Retina with SSD, OS 10.9.3, iTunes 11.2.2.

Guess I spoke too soon.  Got the spinning wheel of death while editing track genres - twice.  Had to do a hard shutdown both times.
