May 19, 2014 10:01 AM in response to Noach Klein1by sn0wleopard,Actually, it's been a gradual regression... Snow Leopard was great, Lion had a few bugs but otherwise still impressive, and now Mavericks is the first contemporary Mac OS where I am actually afraid to install critical software updates. Sigh, I can't believe I was so foolish as to install 10.9.3 without doing a Time Machine backup first(?!).

May 19, 2014 1:50 PM in response to control4reakby Savvy__,For me, time machine took everything back to exactly the way it was prior to the update. There weren't any problems with the apps. The procedure that I used was as follows.
1. Reboot
2. When the chime sounds at start-up, press and hold "command R".
3. Then the prompts were followed until it gave me the option to restore from time machine back-up.

May 25, 2014 2:48 PM in response to frabtiousby gregory byron,This problem has basically wrecked my business for now.
We all use multiple monitors for 3D animation. 60% of the monitors in my office are dark.
Spoke with Apple several times and hopefully the engineers are working over this Memorial weekend.
Since we don't use Time Machine (cause we use centralized storage) I found this option:
http://www.macissues.com/2014/05/21/10-9-3-causing-headaches-for-mac-pro-users/
Using solution #3 "Reinstall OS X" was my only choice. It took hours and several shots of Tequila but it worked.
(FYI machines are 2013 MacPro with AMD graphics)

May 25, 2014 5:07 PM in response to gregory byronby gregory byron,I retract my last comment. After reboot it did not work. Don't try it - waste of time.
I feel like the days of Microsoft and the .dll files #@!* ups.
This 10.9.3 is killing me.
Someone at Apple needs to go down for this. Unacceptable!!!

Level 1 (14 points)
Servers Enterprisetry the solution from "gatd4" it worked for me on my Macmini from 2011.
it is a shame how Apple is driven today, i am not the first to say and unfortunatly looks that more will come. With a aim to realese new features they are lefting behind their image. the support of 4k monitors is used by less than 1% of the community, and in its behalf all of us which have our Macs connected with externalmonitors are left to die
shame on you APPLE

May 25, 2014 11:20 PM in response to miguel_forumby James Brown15,Macmiguel_support - I think the solution from "gatd4" does not work with the new Mac Pros (AMD cards).
Hoping someone will tell me that I'm wrong!
Disappointing that there is no beta of 10.9.4 out yet (or some other patch).

May 26, 2014 7:14 AM in response to miguel_forumby sn0wleopard,Actually, that was my comment to Apple Support as well... I can't imagine that a majority of multiple display Mac Pro users have a quartet of 4K displays. I know Apple would love all of us to dump $10k+ on some new Apple monitors, but it seems awfully shortsighted (or just plain careless) to neglect to beta test an OS update with displays that are not 4K.
The whole reason the MacPro was the obvious choice for me was (allegedly) the ability to support more than 3 non-Apple monitors. This issue has now been ongoing for several weeks with no real end in sight. At what point do we start demanding compensation from Apple for sloppily wrecking a brand new $4000 computer? This experience is raising a lot of questions for me about the reliability of Apple products under their current management team -- particularly Mavericks. It seems like the new philosophy is, "we're giving you Mavericks for free, so don't complain when you discover that we never bothered to beta test it before launch."

May 28, 2014 12:28 AM in response to frabtiousby miguel_forum,not that i can be happy, because Apple create me for about 2 weeks only headackes with such sh***t 10.9.3 update, but i got a easy solution in my case.
the solution i tried from gatd4 stop working after i turn off the computer.
yesterday in my try-outs i came with a easier solution, which looks still alive, after some shutdowns and restarts is still working well:
- on the System Preferences
- Display, Monitor, just select the default Display option from the system and do the Calibration.
i did not change any values, just click forward, and everything works perfectly, the HDMI connection comes back alive after changing from any other output sources or when i start the TV or Computer.
MacMini 2011 - HDMI - Denon AV - HDMI - Panasonic TV

May 28, 2014 9:22 AM in response to miguel_forumby rotowooter,I tried this (the calibration trick) on my new Mac Pro and it did not appear to have any effect on my issue.
Still down to 2 out of 4 monitors working. 2 out of 5 if you count the hdtv over hdmi.

I have already received a response to the bug report from Apple, asking for more information. Good to see such a quick response. This is a pretty important issue for me, so hope they can fix it quickly.
Still, the more people who report it, the higher priority I expect they would give to it, and maybe be able to get different configuration information to enable them to track it down more quickly.
This is very interesting. I and many others have been reporting the missing cursor/disconnecting mouse for 3 years now, and the firewire not sleeping bug for 9 months, with not a whisper from Apple. This, and the fact that they have responded to your report, shows they do pay attention. The conclusion is that Apple know about but have no intention of solving the mouse and firewire bugs, not even responding to it.
