Road Runner Can't Send Email
I perform backups and maintenance on my pastors computer. We both got the IMAC G5's in December. At the time he had been using AOL for his mail. Everything worked fine with it. The parish decided to go to Road Runner for their internet/email. I use rr at home on my computer with no problems. My pastor's computer can receive but, would not send any emails from Road Runner mail. I've been following the discussions here on possible solutions to not being able to send mail. I tried everything suggested to no avil. Today I called Road Runner Tech Support and explained my problem. Tech Support had me check the "Server Settings" under the Mail, Preferences, Account Information, Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), Server Settings, Authentication. It should read "None." My pastor's computer said "Password." With his User Name and Password filled in. Tech Support had me change the Authentication to "None" and that fixed the problem. I could immediately send mail. Tech Support said Road Runner Outgoing Mail doesn't require a password. Thought this might help someone and it did me. Tech Support suggested to pass it on, too.
