The warranty covers manufacturer defects only. It does not cover accidental damage.

Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price that pays for an exchange at a significantly reduced price off the full retail sales price.
As long as the iPhone is not in pieces, they should honor this.

It means that you are not eligible for a free replacement since the damage was caused by you, but you can exchange it for a new iPhone 5C, same color, capacity, etc. for $269.
Out of warranty service would be US$269 in the U.S.
