FCPX not allowing selection of favourites in Media Import

Been using FCPX fine for some time, not sure what happen that cause this issue.

When I click on Media Import, I have able to select desktop or movie under the favouries header. Now it just show this,

1) Tried deleting the perferences, reboot, empty trash, same result.

2) Tried reinstalling FCPX, same result

However I can import the media if I drag the media from finder onto the FCPX event window.

Any ideas? Been driving me crazy!

Can we see the rest of the drive content? Is there a Users folder? What's on the root level of the drive?

This is all I see on the root drive.

Since the last post, I've tried repair permissions, doesn't work. Not sure if this has anything to do with the issue, when I access the root drive in finder, the user directory is faded out.

No User folder appearing in the Import window.

When you select the grayed out Users folder, can you select and open the contents of the folder?

Yes I can. Issue only in FCPX, I can access desktop in Finder as well.

You have been affected by a bug in 10.9.3 that is manifesting on some macs but not others: the /Users folder has become hidden.

I suggest you try running the Combo update on top of your install and see if it fixes things; also, repair permissions with Disk Utility.

There is known way to bring back the folder, but apparently for the people affected it does not seem to survive a restart.

Open the Terminal and copy and paste the following line (without quotes):

"sudo chflags nohidden /Users"

hit enter and type your password (it won't be visible) to confirm.

The issue is in the OS. The Users folder should not be hidden.

What is that User Guide and Information at the root level of the drive? What's that doing there?

I updated to 10.9.3 earlier today and FCP X 10.1.1 seemed to work just fine.

Here's my import window, it looks and works OK:

Maybe I was lucky??

You mean with the combo update?

It took a while to open the KB page for it, as it seemed to stall, but the direct link to the download appears to be working normally:

This is the OS update. 10.9.3. In the App Store. Nothing directly to do with FCP, except for the effect it's having on the app.

I'm curious about seeing the root levels of the boot drives. Standard boot drive configurations don't seem to have a problem with the missing Users folder. Non-standard folders at the root level seems to be causing a problem.
