May 16, 2014 10:37 AM in response to Vlazolby objectfield,Ditto here.
After the iOS 7.1.1 software update, the Podcasts App tries to launch, then immediately crashes back to the home screen. Not cool Apple.

May 16, 2014 10:46 AM in response to Vlazolby snyderro21,I concur. I also deleted the app. Rebooted my iPad. Then re-added the app. It seems to have fixed the stability issue.
Bad job by Apple though. No way that was ready for prime time.

May 16, 2014 10:49 AM in response to iamermby safespace53078,I agree. Things seemed to work just fine when everything was integrated into one app - music, movies, podcasts - why did they have to separate it out anyway?
I was getting used to the new system, but even before this update, there was some wackiness - like the fact that one particular podcast would show up in my podcast app a dozen times. Podcasts that I had told iTunes not to sync to my computer are showing up in the app and cluttering my podcast list.
But this just plain takes the cake. Now the experience of listening to podcasts on my phone has become completely useless. :-(

May 16, 2014 12:43 PM in response to rfwertenby Ric Getter,Mine is crashing too after the update. If the delete/install seems to be working for people, is there a way to do this without having to resubscribe to everything and loosing all my data on what has been played?
This is really urgent for me. I hate being left with my own thoughts while I walk and work out.
Thanks.

May 16, 2014 1:05 PM in response to Vlazolby drdbc54,I am also seeing the problem on my Iphone 5. Will I lose all of my downloaded podcasts if I delete and reinstall the app?
I hope they push a fix out soon.

May 16, 2014 1:06 PM in response to Ric Getterby snyderro21,I was worried about that too as I subscribe to a lot of podcasts. But fortunately they all came back. The problem was that it seemed to lose track of what I had listened to so I had to spend quite a while deleting stuff that I had listened too already. That was the only issue I had though.

May 16, 2014 1:45 PM in response to Ric Getterby Ric Getter,Okay,
It looks like simply deleting the Podcast app, rebooting and reinstalling the app from the App Store keeps things reasonably intact in spite of the "lose all your data" warning. Playback is working again and all my subscription information and previously downloaded podcasts were retained.
The app seems to be giving quesitonable information about the number of items that are in the process of downloading, tapping on download icon and cancelling all the alleged downloads seems ot clear this up.

May 17, 2014 7:26 AM in response to Vlazolby John Doe1,Yes, since I updated "all" yesterday (Friday 5/16) on my Ipad mini (original version) running the newest update of IOS 7, the Podcast app closes a few seconds after I start it. Every time.
It's a problem, because I use the podcast app a lot!
When will this bug be fixed?

May 17, 2014 7:33 AM in response to snyderro21by EmilyCInPortland,If deleting and reinstalling works, can you delete without resubscribing to the podcasts? I subscribed to like 50 podcasts.

May 17, 2014 7:56 AM in response to Vlazolby safespace53078,I followed the suggestion - deleted the podcast app, restarted my phone, reinstalled the app, and everything was fine. I didn't even have to resync my phone to get my podcasts back.

May 17, 2014 8:08 AM in response to drdbc54by rfwerten,Hi,
I did not loose my podcasts but had to recreate my iTunes playlist. This happened once before with an upgrade so I was not surprised it happened again.
Speaking of playlists you create, they have moved the location slightly, you will find all of your personally created playlists now located under "My Stations" - "iTunes Playlists," so they are an additional level down.
The "On-The-Go" playlist under "My Stations" seems interesting (put songs in there for a single play then they are erased) but "On-The_Go" does not show up in iTunes on my computer so you have to populate it on the phone. I would have liked to be able to populate that from iTunes on the computer.

May 17, 2014 8:34 AM in response to Ric Getterby objectfield,I followed the same procedure as Ric Getter as got the same results. The app seems to be working again and after thoroughly checking the settings for the Podcast app on both the iPhone and iTunes, things appear to be working normally. A bit of a mess to fix, but at least it's a fix for now.
