Activation lock screen - don't know the email

This is for an iPod touch that belongs to our company.

We have an exiting employee who has given back their iPod touch. However, he does not know the email he used to create the iCloud account with. All we are provided with is a*****@gmail.com. He has no idea what the email is. I already did a factory reset through iTunes, but the activation lock screen still persists. Is there any way we can view the complete a*****@gmail.com email to get to the bottom of this?

I should note that the device was also issed to a previous employee, but I cannot contact them.

I'm not trying to outright bypass the lock screen. I'm just trying to see if there's a way to view the complete email of the Apple ID so we can go through the standard password reset mode.

Have him recover the ID and password

Is there a way to find my Apple ID Name if I can't remember it?

Yes. Visit My Apple ID and click Find your Apple ID. See Finding your Apple ID if you'd like more information.

How do I change or recover a forgotten Apple ID Password?

If you've forgotten your Apple ID Password or want to change it, go to My Apple ID and follow the instructions. SeeChanging your Apple ID password if you'd like more information.

If you are the original purchaser of the iPod and purchased it directly from Apple, Apple may be able to help

If your employee believes the account to be his, not the previous employee's, have the employee go here:

https://iforgot.apple.com

and click on "Forgot your Apple ID?". He may be able to recover the account. If not, your employee will need to call Apple Support, ask to speak with Account Security, and work with them to recover that Apple ID so he can release the Activation Lock.

If you believe that the account belonged to the previous employee and you cannot contact that person, there will be no way you can recover that account. You will need to contact Apple Support and provide them with proof that your company is the original legal owner of the iPod and they should be able help.

Regards.
