Why can't iPhones rotate 180 degrees when iPads can?

How come the OS for my iPads allows content to rotate 180 degrees, but the OS on the iPhone does not? I have an iPhone 5 and with head phones on the bottom, rotating 180 would be fabulous!

Why are you telling us? We are users like you, and we don't care what you think or what kind of phone you have. This is a user-to-user forum; Apple does not read posts. If you want to make a suggestion to Apple, use https://apple.com/feedback.

On top of that, you are wrong. App developers have the option of 180º rotation; many of my apps do.

In my Navigator app, I cannot have the power cord at the top, only at the bottom. This makes it awkward in the cup holder. If 180° is possible in Maps, shouldn't it work in Navigator as well?

You need to contact the app developer. My navigation app, Waze, rotates 180º. It's up to the app developer.

So does Google Maps as I recall.

No one here can answer "Why...". No one here can change anything. Submit your feedback to Apple here:
