I purchased a 1st gen iPad mini for my wife. I want to airdrop some pics to her. My iPad does not see hers or my Macbook. Her iPad sees my iPad but not my Macbook. My Macbook does not see either one. How do I go about fixing these issues?

For everyone where it is still not working even with all suggestions followed:
If you are connected to Wifi AND Ethernet (as I was): unplug the Ethernet cable!
For me with all known 'fixes' performed it still did not work. At my desk I tend to also connect the Ethernet cable even if Wifi is active and guess what:
Unplugging the Ethernet suddenly made Airdrop work!

AirDrop does not currently work between iDevices and Macs.
OK. That I now understand but how about the ipad to ipad problem?
Which model iPads do you have? Do you have WiFi and Bluetooth turned on?

Hers:
New iPad mini 1st gen 16gb Wifi on: Yes Bluetooth on: Yes
Both are just wifi models.
As stated previously the original iPad does not support airdrop. As far as I know neither does the MacBook.
When you say one device "sees" another what do you mean? You cannot transfer files or photos via Bluetooth between iPads or between an iPad and a MacBook.
Best way is to use iTunes on the computer to sync albums of photos to the iPads.
If I go to air drop a contact from my wife's ipad to mine, mine shows up as an airdrop canidate. If I do the same from my ipad there is no one listed that I can airdrop too and her ipad is only about 1 foot away from mine.
I guess no one else has this problem or they do not have a solution. The problem is simple. My ipad does not recognize hers and I can not Airdrop to her. Music, contacts, anything. If I share music through Airdrop hers does not get it.
How do I fix this problem?

He has an iPad Mini 1st gen whiich should support AirDrop.
Do you have both devices set to Everyone or Contacts? Try it with Everyone and try having both of you connected to the same WiFi hotspot.
