ipod touch crashes itunes

Hi everyone,

Having a slightly infuriating issue - basically ignored an update that was coming up on iTunes for ages (just out of laziness) saying that I should update my ipod touch to IOS 7.1.

I finally decided to do it, presuming (as one would) that an update could only be an improvement. Oh how wrong I was! Now I can't conenct my ipod to my computer with itunes open without it completely locking up my computer - I can force quit itunes after a lot of fighting with it to get back to normal, but otherwise it's completely stuffed, with no other programs working either. Itunes will usually recognise the device, go to update then after 10 seconds the spinning wheel of death will appear and nothing else will function

I've also found that if I connect my iPhone a similar thing happens, which means I can't charge my phone of my lap top, very annoying.

Even if I disconnect my ipod the problem still persists. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks!

Doug
