Is there a way for Garage band to analyze my song to derive the tempo?
Can GarageBand figure the tempo of a song I record?

No, see my answer to your previous question:
Re: Is there a way for Garage band to analyze my song to derive the tempo?
That's what i thought. So, the GarageBand Drummer keys into the tempo and time signature settings, not your recorded tracks, correct?
Thanks!
It is best to set the correct tempo in GarageBand before you start recording. Set up a drummer or enable the metronom, so you can hear the timing of the project, and play intime while you are playing and recording your instrument.
If you change the tempo of the project, after the track has been recorded, GarageBand can adapt the tempo of your recorded track, if you enable "Follow Tempo & Pitch" for the regions in the track.
Added: You can also select one of your tracks as "Groove Track". Then GarageBand will correct the timing of your playing to match the Groove track closely. You should still try hard toplay exactly in time, but minor differences will be corrected automatically.
