imported mp3 file - how to change pitch and tempo independently?

I'm trying to make a mash-up with one mp3 snippet matching another.

i turned the track purple and was able to change the pitch to match one another. however, although in the same key, i can't "speed up" the track to make it the same tempo.

i have checked off "follow tempo and pitch". since i'm working with two mp3s, i'm not sure if i should set a tempo or if i'm able to do that.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

The trick is: one of the two regions has to have the "follow tempo and pitch" checked, the other one not. If you then move the tempo slider, you will see that one region (the one with the checked box) keeps its length while the other one gets longer and shorter, so you can align them. Of course you have to pick regions that are supposed to have the same length afterwards.

(Actually, the region that seemingly changes its length stays the same, while the other one is sped up or slowed down.)

If this doesn't lead to an exact matching, you should determine the bpm of each piece, do some math and convert the pieces in an audio editor!
