How do I sync an iPhone 4s to an Imac that's running Tiger OSx 10.4.11?

Wondering if I have to update the operating system.

Syncing an iPhone 4S with a Mac requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 if the device is running iOS 5 or 6 and Mac OS X 10.6.8 if it's using iOS 7.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.

If it's a G3, no further OS upgrades are available.

If it's a G4 or G5 and the iOS device is running an OS version prior to 7.0, buy a retail Mac OS X 10.5 DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay; Apple still might have copies in stock if you phone them.

If it's an Intel Mac, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.

Back up your data before upgrading.
