itunes freezes when installing

I have uninstalled itunes because it was not recognizing the ipod touch that i bought. When i try to install itunes again the installer freezes. I have tried installing 4 times and it keeps doing the same thing. Anyone else having this problem or know the solution? Any help is much apreachiated.
