After updating the ios in my phone and my wife's we have been receiving text messages meant for one of us however it comes to both phones. Some are meant for me and they also come to my wife's phone also and vice versa. Does anyone know what settings have been changed that is causing this?

Please add a bit more detail? I changed the Apple Id on one phone so it wasn't the same as the other, and STILL the text messages come in to both. Where is the setting I'm missing? I signed out on settings>iCloud and signed in with the new one.
Its imessage rather than SMS
Settings > Messages > Send and Receive > only use each your own phone number and e-mail address(es).
