Q: Apple ID frustrations!

OK , here goes....

i Changed my Apple ID. I changed it for everything on my iPad, of course when you do that apple DOES NOT TELL YOU that everything you downloaded or purchased still requires your original Apple ID associated with that app or icloud .  So in trying to update my apps, it sakes me for my OLD Apple ID password.  Which is gone now.

here is the kicker, I cannot recover my old Apple ID password because when I do the reset password routein it uses my new Apple ID and wants me to change that password,  not my old Apple ID password.  I'm stuck. Endless loop of Apple.

help!

Basically, you have to sign out of all the services that used the old Apple ID, and sign in using the new Apple ID.

Apple doesn't help when they chose the words Delete Account because doing so doesn't actually delete your iCloud account (which can't be done on your own anyway) - it merely deletes that account from the device. The data stored in iCloud which includes all your App Store and iTunes Store purchases remain unchanged.

This describes what you need to do: Apple ID: What to do after you change your Apple ID

It would be nice if Apple placed more emphasis on this excerpt from Changing your Apple ID

Before you change your Apple ID:

I interpret that to apply to all your devices - Macs as well as iOS. Signing out of all services on all devices prior to changing one's Apple ID will preclude this problem from occurring.

Thanks for trying to help, I'm signed out of all old accounts, my new Apple ID is current for all interfaces to include the iTunes and App Store in settings.  When I'm looking at my app update page and click on an app to update it, it asks me for my old Apple ID password tied to my old Apple ID . No other options. My old password isn't working and I'm stuck. I can't recover my old password because Apple password reset is only for my current Apple ID! I don't want to change that, I want to reset my old Apple ID password.

im going nuts..... 19 apps to update, and can't do it and can't change old password.

All media and apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them.

You can not transfer apps or media to a new account.

If you do not wish to use the old Apple ID, delete all apps and media purchased under it.

Purchase all the apps under the new ID.

I'm signed out of all old accounts,

By that I understand that you went to Settings > iCloud, and tapped Delete Account. That's what you need to do.

If that is what you did, open the App Store. Under "updates" choose an app that is not installed - one with a "cloud" icon. Tap the "cloud" to download it. If it is asking for your previous Apple ID, use your new password, not the old one.

If all the apps you purchased are already installed, choose one, preferably a free one, and delete it. Then, try the above.

Thank you, the delete works, but I have many apps that have so much data......

all all I want to do is reset my old ID password.

im going to call Apple .

funny that when navigating through the support area, that when you hit the  "contact us " at the bottom and progress through, you eventually get to a screen that says "browser unsupported," get the latest safari....

    even  though im 7.1.

You might have to call them. Would you please let me know how they resolve the dilemma?

all all I want to do is reset my old ID password.

I was under the impression you changed only your Apple ID. I don't recommend changing one's Apple ID and password simultaneously, not that it is an unreasonable thing to do, it certainly has the potential to complicate matters.

That explains it - if you haven't changed your Apple ID password for several years, any change to your Apple ID information will require compliance with the new, improved, and impossible to remember obscurity criteria:

    Good luck.
