iTunes in iPad identity lost - help

For a long time I've used iTunes withoiut any problem but recently, having to change my Mac I/D I now can't gain access and I've ried the method of using the old address first to do so but cannot succeed. Is there any way I can get my iTunes identity back? TIA.

iPad 2, iOS 7.1.1

Hi Olespice,

In general there is no need to change the Apple ID you are using for iTunes on your Mac. You can manage your Apple ID, including changing it and the email address associated with it on this page -

Apple - My Apple ID

https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/

This article includes instructions on how to change your Apple ID -

And this article tells you how to sign in with the correct Apple ID in iTunes on a Mac -

iTunes 11 for Mac: Manage your iTunes Store account

http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12299

This one tells you how to change the Apple ID you are signed in to on your iPad -

Apple ID: What to do after you change your Apple ID

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5796

Specifically -

iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iTunes App Store.

  • If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in.
  • If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID, tap your previous Apple ID and tap Sign Out. Then enter your current Apple ID to sign in.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I'm fed up with changing my Apple i/d and still not getting anywhere with the iTunes Store entry password attempts. My problem is a failure by iTunes to recognise the password I enter, and on examining the password number of dots it seems I'll never manage to know that particular one which is obviously not my Apple i/d one. Ideally, I would like to be able to change the iTunes password to the Apple one but being able to get into the iTunes settings in the first place to do that is the barrier.

I've changed the Apple i/d several times including my usual name to Olespice which then shows me as a fresh entry when in fact I've been using the Discussions for years!

Sorry if my first entry has misled.

Thanks for the response.

Because it gives me a different i/d, Csound, I cannot obtain my previous nor can I update those items needing it. The way I've got round the latter is by trashing those items requiring update and reinstalling them to the fresh i/d. The same applies to Discussions. All my previous stuff cannot be raised. Nor can my previoius i/d be raised by the system.
