Text shortcuts

The option for 'Create text shortcut' only reads 'Text shortcut' and immediately goes back to the homepage when selected. Is there a setting that I need to change to solve this problem? Thanks.

It should actually read "Add New Shortcut..." but that, I think, is beside the point.

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists. If it does, please report back and we'll see if we can figure out next steps.
