How many programs do you have open? Try closing the programs you have open. Or does this happen everytime you turn it on?

Mavericks will use more resources as it is a newer OS. This could be a problem if you're running on an older system. Although an i5 and 4GB of RAM shouldnt be too bad

I'm not seeing the usual suspects but you have a lot of stuff with which I'm not familiar. However, here are a few things to try:

    1) Either disable or update DivX. There have been issues with out-of-date versions. If you don't need it, get reid of it.

    2) In System Preferences > Accounts, go to your user account and select the "Login Items" tab. Remove "Magic Menu." It sounds like a interface mod and those are often troublemakers.

    3) While in Login items, remove both occurances of "BumpTop." There shouldn't be two, and it also sounds like an interface modifier. Nasty things.

As for RAM, my 2012 MBP 13 running 10.9.3 got a lot happier when I increased the RAM from the base of 4GB to 8GB. Your report shows no swaps used but might have been scanned rright after a restart. Use the computer for about a day of your normal activity and then run another Etrecheck. See if Page-outs" becomes a significant pecentage of "Page-ins." If it is 10 percent or greater, more RAM might help.

    1. as I said, you have hacked software. That could be a problem.

    2. I strongly advise to remove ALL entries in the SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LoginItmes, with the minus sign underneath.

    3. Uninstall MagicMenus, Roxio, and Bumptop. With their uninstallers !

    4. Uninstall Digidesign (as I think that may be the hacked one). Tell me. Atleast remove and uninstall the three in SystemPreferences.

    5. Absolutely uninstall Growl: 8 the native Notifications is much better, and Growl is not 100% 'easy going' (I will get some comments on that, but I insist).

    6. Uninstall Chrome: unsafe and a resources spoiler. When you really want another faster browser than Safari, take Firefox or Opera.

    7. Make sure GoogleDrive is the latest version !

    8. Remove the adware plugins from  Safari: SlickSavings, Ebay, Amazon, Searchme.

    9. I am always very unhapppy by Valvesoftware Steam, but I cannot really prove that it it is causing issues. IMHO you should uninstall it, use VLC instead.

    10. Now to the startup items (this is not the same as loginitems):

MacintoshHD->Library->StartupItems  folder: delete all entries .. I insist ! When you want to run an application, start it by hand.

Now, restart, empty the Trash bin, make a new etrecheck list, so that we can see if there are leftovers.

    Have fun,

    Lex

ok did what you told me...but concerning the " growl " i come to remove it from the system preferences it says :

The “Growl” preferences pane could not be removed because an error occurred.

And this is the etreCheck list :

It must be already much better now, because a lot of kext and other are not loaded anymore...

    There are some leftovers.

Is Growl there already from the SnowLeopard time? And Paragon NTFS ?  I guess so. None of the Paceap plists should be loaded.

    1. Growl seems to be away now after the restart. In Finder go to

MacintoshHD->Library->LaunchAgents and delete the paragon plist.

    then go to

MacintoshHD->Library->Extensions and delete the  roxio plist.

in there also delete the three   digidesign  files.

    2. Restart the mac, empty the trash bin,

    3. Then go on: in Finder go to

MacintoshHD->Library->LaunchDaemons and delete the   adobe switchboard plist   and  also  the two

    digidesign  files

then in Finder menu GO hold the alt(option) key and choose Library, in there goto LaunchAgents folder and

    delete  the valvesoftware steamclean plist.

    4. Again restart the mac, empty the trash bin,

This should be better. I am not knowing about calaq and about maudio and about neirinck, tell me.

Do you still use Autodesk? And Virtualbox?

After this I will ask you about copying the hosts file to me.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

    SYSTEM LOG QUERIES All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

    View Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

    Do you use AutoCAD?

The AutoCAD application, when it exits, may leave the graphics subsystem in a state that has a bad effect on interface animation. The problem can be resolved, at least temporarily, by relaunching AutoCAD.
