-- OK, Digidesign is still there (partly), and some other hacked adobe software, as I said already before. All installed adobe software on your mac is probably hacked. You see what can be the consequence... So you must decide what you really need. Most adobe software has free or cheap alternatives, e.g. Photoshop has a free lookalike called Gimp, an open source project. If there is other hacked software think about that too.

It is not necessarily the software itself that corrupts the hosts file, it can also be because the installer of it has been tampered with by the sender. Or the hosts file is corrupted by a keygenerator, when generating a key.

    Uninstall all that.

-- The hosts file is easy to repare, we better do that after we are ready with the rest of the cleaning, I will explain that later.

-- Do the SMC reset to reset the battery supervising electronics, as Linc suggested. Doing that can not hurt. Although I think that the battery is still ok. Never do the socalled "battery calibration", just use the mac without power cord once in a while (once per one or two weeks) and do not use the battery below 20%. That keeps the electrons moving. Using it on the battery until it dies because the battery is depleted completely is disastrous for a battery.

-- I have to go now will come back later with the rest of the cleaning instructions,

    Lex

    I have returned.

Before you do as Linc says (delete the auto master, and reinstall OSX), let us be sure that the problem software is gone and the hosts file is cleaned because that stays after the restore of the OS !! The uncleaned hosts file is not really causing any issues, but should be cleaned anyway.

Thus uninstall all software that is suspicious, as discussed before, then restart and empty the trash bin, make a new etrecheck list so that we see the leftovers, and can start repairing the hosts file. And also an image of the Applications and Utilities folder.

About the battery: check in SystemInformation (Utilities folder) what it says about the Battery Health.
