It sounds like you may have a stuck key. Was anything spilled on it recently?

I suggest using the mouse to view the virtual keyboard to see if there is a key stuck. To do so, open the System Preferences and click on the Keyboard preferences, then click on the Keyboard tab. Make sure the 'Show Keyboard & Character View in menu bar' open is selected as shown.

Now pull down the Input menu from the upper right of your display and select the 'Show Keyboard Viewer' option as shown.

A virtual keyboard will appear on the display. If any of the keys appear gray then that indicates the key is acting as if it has been pressed. A stuck key may require replacement of the keyboard if you cannot find any obvious reason the issue is occurring. I had something similar occur last year and it turned out the corner of a book was pressing my escape key.

Hi icare thanks you've been a great help at first it appears that there's nothing wrong and no keys are being pressed but whilst keeping the virtual keyboard open I can see after a few minutes of use the command key gets stuck I can't tell which one as they are both greyed out.

I haven't spilt anything on it other then literally a few drops of water the other day.

I guess it means a new keyboard

Thanks again
