I've recently bought a new macbook asnd want to transfer my music & photos to it from my ipod but have no idea how to do it without deletin all the files from my ipod.
Can someone explain how I do in plain language please?

You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library. To switch computers see:

If this is music obtained from the iTMS, it's all stored in iCloud. If it's music obtained elsewhere, you need to purchase an app for that. I never did it myself so all I can suggest is that you browse the app store.
