Q: I need help with saving all of the photos and videos on my iPhone.

When I access the screen that has Photos, Shared, and Albums and I click on Photos, there are more photos there than the phone is counting that

I have on my iPhone. How do I save all those photos or put them onto my computer? I have saved the photos it will let me but I cannot access the photos from more than 2 years ago. Also my phone says I have 43 videos but only 10 save.

Also, when I upgrade and switch to a newer iPhone, will I see all those photos from the whole history of my phone, will I see all 43 videos, and all my iMessages and SMSs?

Thank you.

    Moving Photos and Videos

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083

And this is what iCloud backs up

    • Photos and videos in your Camera Roll
    • Device settings
    • App data
    • Home screen and app organization
    • iMessage, text (SMS), and MMS messages
    • Ringtones
    • Visual Voicemail

These things will be tranfered over to you're new phone

Thanks. I will check out that link.

Also, the voice mail messages will still be available after changing iPhones, right?

I did an import of photos and videos but I did not get all the photos I am speaking about.

These are all the pictures I've taken with this iPhone since I got it.

The photos you have taken with the iPhone are the only photos you can inmport from the iPhone to your computer.

    Thank you.

Is it possible that at some point I reached a maximum number of photos that would store on my iPhone, and so

continuing to take photos caused writing over other photos to store. Wouldn't I have received some notice on the phone that I had maxed out storage?

    Thanks.

I was double checking after I imported the photos and videos to be sure the files that were imported

matched the number of the photos and videos on the iPhone that should've imported. The numbers were different; for the videos too, so I'm still not satisfied that I have a separate copy of all the photos I've ever taken on my iPhone, dating back several years.

Also does my iPhone 4 or 4S have a sim card and if so, where is it? If there is one, could my "lost" photos be on it?

I thought these phones were supposed to be incredibly convenient. I'm trying so hard to keep track of everything, but it's so frustrating. I didn't expect to have to worry about where my photos would be.

Could someone please help me find my photos and videos?

When you import photos, it will only ask to delete the photos you have imported.

It may have a SIM card but  it does not have Photos on it.

The iPhone does not store any info on the SIM card.

    Hi Sharon,

The best thing for you to do is 2 things.

When you purchase a new device(whether it be a iPhone, iPod or iPad)

    1) Perform a full backup of your old device via iTunes. This will save contacts, calendars, photos, text messages, emails, apps in folders how you left them, music, videos, podcasts etc. Note it won't import your photos unless you tell it to.

1.1) When you get your new device it will ask whether to set up as a new device or from a backup, select from backup and your new phone will look and be exactly the same as your old one, same settings etc.

2)[optional] I personally like to backup my photos to iPhoto on my mac once a month. When  it reaches the end of the library it asks whether to delete originals or not. If you hit no it doesn't change the photos on your device and you have a copy in your iTunes library. This is handy if you want to use photos from your phone on your mac.

This something everyone should regularly be doing (as I suggested above).

You mean this is handy if you want to keep the photos at all.

If your iPhone needs to be restored and you have not sync'd the photos, they are gone.

You should  regularly sync & delete the photos on your iPhone to clear the Camera Roll.

Then you can sync only the photos you want back to the iPhone using iTunes.
