I have Mail 4.6, and it has run very well. All of a sudden, Mail won't send or receive mail. I checked with Verizon and had them check all of my settings to be sure they were correct. I can read my emails on the Verizon website, but with no attachments included.

What can I do now?

Thanks for any help!

It may have difficulty simultaneously reading e-mail off the web and the mail application.   Make sure the web browser window with the e-mail is closed, not minimized.

What does Mail/Window/Connection Doctor Show? If the server is red, select it and look at the Show Details box.

Could this all be because I am running Snow Leopard and it isn't supporting Mail 4.6 anymore?

Both were not running at the same time.

    No.

SMTP is SMTP.  They may have changed the outgoing port though.  Outgoing mail if it is anything other than the company that gives you juice, may require ports 2626, or 2662 if 587 doesn't work.

These are the Verizon settings I use successfully in Snow Leopard.

incoming: pop.verizon.net    port 995  use SSL   authentication   password

outgoing: smtp.verizon.net   port 465  use SSL   authentication   password

  • barblin32 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Eric - Thanks for the advice!!! Verizon supposedly checked all of my settings, but their port was 110. I could only change the port in one place - 995,  use SSL, and authentication password.

I sent an email to my other account and it worked!!! I can't believe it! You have solved my problem!!!

I am a happy camper! Enjoy your weekend!
