10.5.8 is the highest it can run, but you need an admin account to install anything.

Admin Hack...

Starts up like the first time you buy a new Mac, but after filling in all that info again, you should have access to the computer and the other Users & files will still be there... give the new User a different name than an existing one.

Jul 7, 2014 1:41 PM in response to londonwomanby Shadey,EveryMac.com lists 4 Powerbook G4's @ 1.5 GHZ... click this link then scroll down the list... when you find your screen size, that's your Powerbook.
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g4/index-powerbook-g4.html
There you'll find LOTS of good info about your Mac... including (as Bdaqua has also noted) that it will run OSX 10.5.8, which is the Final version of Leopard. The Leopard Install disk (or set) is still available in many places... Amazon, FastMac, Hardcore Mac, etc... but you're not gonna like the prices... starting at $150.00 for a Single-User set (Amazon & others) & going to $600+ for a Server set at MegaMacs!
As for your offer of cake... that's a sweet deal (pun intended) but if my discs get lost or destroyed then I have to pay THOSE PRICES to replace them. If you lived nearby I would do the install for you, for coffee & cake & a little $ for my time, but I don't think ANYone will put 'em in the mail without a PRE-payment of replacement cost or better. Bottom line, if you lost 'em then you need to replace 'em.As for your lost password... the OSX Install disc has the Password Utility, if you don't get results via the hacks mentioned by other users.

Jul 21, 2014 4:17 AM in response to londonwomanby a brody,Also note, if you have Mac OS 9 installed on your Powerbook, it will not be able to be used if you install 10.5 on the machine, unless you partition the hard disk first by erasing the hard drive and installing 10.4.11 or earlier on it.
Mac OS 9 I refer to here is from 2002, and allows you to run even older software.
No Powerbook is newer than 2006.
Look inside the battery bay to determine which Powerbook you have according to Everymac.
