Q: How come my iPhone won't activate after unlock?

I unlocked it with my previous provider, waited, and switched the SIM card and it said that I had to activate it, but I don't see how I can. iTunes isn't giving me any further instructions either, so I'm a bit confused.

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.1

When you unlocked your phone, did you backup and then restore your phnone in itunes.

Did you get a message from itunes saying" congrats your phone is now unlocked"?

After I did everything you said, it said "Congratulations and bla blah blah", but it still says "No Service" at the top left corner. What does that mean?
