Wifi passes diagnostics, still no internet.

My MacBook Pro is up to date. Wifi says it's connected, network diagnostics passes with green lights every time saying that the internet is working properly. In safari, however, I still cannot get onto any web page. It times out and says server is not responding. It's weird because my ipad and iPhone navigate via wifi without any problems. Even the girl sitting behind me on her mac air is surfing the web just fine. I already tried switching the DNS numbers out for any and all I could find thru other threads but nothing seems to work.

Plugged in my phone to update it's software thru iTunes on my MacBook and it also said it couldn't find a server.

One weird thing: I called tech support and she ran me thru the network diagnostic motions, same as before, passed diag tests and said internet was working fine. She asked me to go to a website and it worked! (First time in 4 hrs trying to get this going in the library at school). Went outside for a victory smoke and now I'm back to square one. Diag tests still pass, and no internet pages work. What is going on? I got this laptop specifically to do work at school and now I have nothing!!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.

Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.

Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.

The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

Test while in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Sorry for the lack of response. For the past month my MacBook Pro has been connecting fine in the school library (the only place it is problematic). And of course now it's doing it again.

Results of the test:

Performed start-up in Safe Mode.

Connection test passed and states I am connected to WiFi.

Go to surf a web page and still after a while says "Safari can't open the page"

Same problem in regular mode.

phone and ipad still connect to wifi here and work without problems.
