I just bought a Linksys wireless adapter model number WUSB54GC. It say it is only compatible with windows bt the guy at best buy he had succses with linksys products on macs. But i can find out how to set it up. Please Help
I was hopeful that plug and use. Try about this mac, and see if the adapter shows up.
I looked this product up and it does not look for using it on Mac. It only talks about Windows. I would take it back to Best Buy and let them know you got a bad advice from a sales person. I would say get yourself a extreme card from Apple. It is only about $50 and install should be simple.
The adapter show up as Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter. The thing is that i need wireless for an iMac g4 the one that use the airport card not the airport extreme card.
It is at least being recognized. It is too bad the adapter does not work. I thought all G4 iMacs were Airport Extreme ready since mine is.
I am going to look into it some more. I hate it when things should work but they don't.
I just purchase a supposedly Mac compatible network hard drive enclosure that took me a couple of days to figure out. Came with no Mac instructions whatsoever.
I bought a linksys network storage nslu2 which I connected to my external hardrive in the hopes that I would be able to listen to itunes without connecting my hardrive to my computer (I have a lot of music) I have walked through the setup with linksys, and they said that I need to map the network storage device. Apple told me that I do this by connecting to the ip address that the network storage device uses- I tried connecting to the server from go in the finder menu and connecting to 192.168.1.77 and no luck; I couldn't connect. I tried pinging the server and it failed. Has anyone succesfully used the Linksys with a mac? Is it compatible?
