Sony HVR-M-15U Decks

Does anyone know if the sony hvr-m 15u deck or the
sony hvr-m10u deck are compatible with other brands
hd- jvc- panasonic etc tapes for capturing in hd
to final cut? The cameras aren't compatible but are
the tapes? I got some sales talk run around and
now I'm confused. also the sony decks play and
record dv cam and mini dv is that correct? and will
the hvr-m15u work with final cut, it isnt listed.
