How Do I Rename Desktop Icons?

Please help. I know this should be an easy fix, but I can't seem to figure it out. I thought if I highlighted the icon I could just type the name, but no success. Any hellp would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Gem,

Welcome to the forum.

Simply click once on the icon to highlight it and then click once again on the name. If the file is not locked then you will be able to change the name. If it is locked then you can unlock it via the Get Info window. Click once on the file and then, from the menubar at the top, select File->Get Info.
