all of a sudden, apple aluminum wired keyboard model A1243 started malfunctioning. In numeric keypad, 9 key looks like it stucked. but when i open the keyboard viewer and click on 9 key it becomes free. no spillage or damage on the keyboard. it looks like it started after the sofatware update on May 16th. any idea?

Do you mean the 9 on the numeric keypad then works, ort that keyboard viewer just allowed you to enter a 9?
9 on numeric keyboard does not work. Keyboard viewer just allows me to enter 9. But when i open keyboard viewer, 9 seems stuck at first, but i can free it with the keyboard viewer and it does not come back as stuck. So this makes me think that it could be related to software update.

Yes it works. But when i press 7 on the numeric keyboard, it types 79, when press 8 it types 89, when pres - sign, it types -9.
Try another KB. Could be that the KB is messed up. I have had non-Apple wifi KBs do things like that.
I think the nine key on the keypad is depressed/stuck or shorted out at bootup.
More interestingly, cmd+shft+3 does not work any more to take the screenshot. I checked the settings. It is enabled. I did the factory rest on keyboard shortcuts, same thing. All individual keys cmd and shft and 3 works by the way. What is going on.
Do you have another computer, iPod touch, iPad or iPhone to try the KB with?
PRAM reset solved my problem. Actually at the begginig i tried to do the PRAM but it was not succesfull. i was using the command option key on the left side of the keyboard. when i used the ones on the right side i was able to do the PRAM reset and the keyboard started to function normally. thanks everyone.
OK. it worked only for 5 minutes and the 9 key rep9ating came back. :((((((
I plugeed the keyboard into another mac computor today to test it. it was working fine without problem. then i repluged in to my imac, it was fixed magically. acctiually, i read this trick in another discussion topic. so it really works.
