Sep 4, 2014 6:33 PM in response to Carolyn Samitby davofromulladulla,Thanks for the tip about clicking "None", Carolyn.
I just did that and the download is now occurring (I think, well it says it is now installed anyway)
Why the **** can't Apple make it clear that you can just click "None"?
I've just spent about an hour with various forms of Apple Support, including online chat, trying to find out how to download a free app without giving them my CC details.
Very annoyed, but thanks again for your tip.
Cheers,
Dave.

Sep 5, 2014 4:38 AM in response to davofromulladullaby Skydiver119,You used to be able to more easily select none. And by used to I mean years ago. At some point the mindset seemed to change to 'it's just a matter of time before everyone buys something, so let's get those credit cards now to make it easier later'. So the default is to make entering payment details the default way to set up an account.
just how it is.
if you don't want to enter your CC info you can go out and buy an iTunes gift card and use that. Which is what I do. I've had an iTunes account for 10 years and have never given the a single credit card number.
