I have been using Win 7 32 bit but I need to upgrade to Mavericks. I have been reading that you should haave the 64 bit edition of Win 7 if you need to use boot camp however I have Win 7 32 bit. Is there any way that you can use the 32 bit edition if you upgrade to Mavericks from Snow Leopard?

You can use your 32 bit Windows in a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. Boot Camp no longer supports 32 bit Windows.
running windows in a virtual machine is easier for most people to get running compared to bootcamp as no special drivers are needed like with bootcamp
so if one don't plan on using windows to play 3d games and or 3d programs such as studio max a virtual machine is a better choice
I only need win 7 for programs like Quicken and Office and the few other Win programs that aren't quite the same for Mac. Would Parallels do the job or can you recommend something else? Or is it possible do just download an older version of Bootcamp (like 3.3?)
Try VirtualBox, both of those programs run well in Windows (on VBox). It has the advantage of being free to commend it as well as being very good.
Are you positive that this will work? I will be in deep trouble if it does not.

I have a 2010 11" Macbook air OS 10.9.2. Bootcamp 5.1.2. Two weeks ago I installed Windows 7 Professional 32 bit on a 50 gig partitian using bootcamp. It has been running flawlessly.
I also have Win 7 Professional 32 bit. Now I am confident that it will work. Thanks.....
You need to lookup your exact model here, it will tell you if you can install 32bit
Please note the link provided by turbostar. This will give you the info you need to download the correct drivers. In my case it was "Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033". Even though the chart suggests that Boot Camp v4 is the only valid choice, I double checked the version on my Macbook Air is indeed 5.1.2.

Since I have a Macbook Air and an iMac I have to wait to install the software. However, I spoke with Microsoft and they assured me that it will work & if it doesn't they will give it over to a senior engineer. As long as I have the original disk and serial number, they have no problem with it. BTW, just for your knowledge they have cleaned up their act and assist customers with reinstallation issues. So if you ever have a problem they will help you. I had a senior engineer that worked with my son's old laptop with Vista and scheduled phone calls at my convenience to troubleshoot. It's nice to know that Apple and Microsoft have made peace with each other......
why the wait? just dl an ISO off the web and install unless it is a separate issue?
