I have never used the headphones in my phone (2 months old) and all of a sudden my sound switched to headphones mode. I have tried cleaning the hole with a q-tip and alcohol but no luck. Any other suggestions?

It sounds like you are unable to use the speaker on your phone because it seems to think that headphones are plugged in even after having cleaned out the port. I would next try plugging and unplugging a pair of headphones a few times and retesting the issue. If the issue persists, I would use these steps specifically from the following article:

I have the iPhone 6, and came across this question after my own phone became stuck on headphone mode.
Hard reset, using a rolled up tissue to rid the jack of debris, and wiggling the earphones around helped fix the issue.
I also went to sounds and played my ringtone. Low and behold, the speaker was fine, however it was still stuck when using applications or playing music. I reset my phone again and it fixed the problem
