I have no email on my ipad or my iphone for some reason?

I used to be able to receive and send email messages through my ipad and iphone, but I no longer can, message box reads, unable to send or receive email because I do not have access to the 'server'. Why has this happened? And can I change things so that emails can be received and sent......

iPad, iOS 7.1.1

Hello, Nanbar1009.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I would start with closing all open applications as outlined in the first article and power cycle the device. If the issue persists, the easiest way to troubleshoot this issue would be to delete the account and add it back to the iOS device. Below, I have included two additional email troubleshooting articles. The first article covers basic email troubleshooting. The second article will assist you if the email account you are experiencing issues with is a Gmail account.

iOS: Force an app to close
