I have the ipad4 and a logitech keyboard with the magnetic attachment. recently it started displaying a snowy screen with lines, and when i attach the keyboard, the magnetic feature causes the display to suddenly work. pull the logitech keyboard away, and the screen goes snowy - reattach keyboard, and click....screen is fine. what the heck!!!

I'm having just the opposite problem - I get the snowy screen when my iPad3 is on the Logitech keyboard, but the screen works again when I take it off the keyboard. Have you found out anything from submitting the problem?

I opened a support call and spoke with an Apple Technician. He had never heard of this and could find nothing online about it. My goal with this post is to document the problem, and show that the Logitech Keyboard was related to the problem. The solution, unfortunately, was iPad replacement outside of warranty for $299 plus tax. The repacement went smoothly, once at the local Apple Store. I made an appointment and showed up on time. I backed up the iPad with iTunes. The Apple Store technician had never seen the problem before and said it was hardware failure - could not be repaired at the store. Replacement required. Problem was 100% reproducible in front of technician.

One extra issue I had was the iPad was from my company, and there was security software installed with an Admin account and password. I had to call our data center on a Sunday afternoon and get the password so the iPad could be wiped clean before turning it in.

Restored from iTunes, and had to redownload a few apps for accessing the corporate network, and the iPad had cellular, so the SIM card had to be switched, and AT&T had to reassociate the IMEI number with our coporate account.

All is well now - new iPad, cellular working, apps reinstalled...I'm productive again. I hope this post helps others.

I have the same issue with a 4th generation iPad and a Logitech Ultra-thin keyboard. The iPad is just out of the warranty period so they won't replace it so I took this up with Logitech since this appears to be the root of the issue. After going back and forth with them for the past month they have now told us the following:

"We appreciate your quick response and thank you for presenting the picture of your iPad. It is already forwarded to our product specialist and they verified that the keyboard has nothing to do with the problem occurring on your iPad. Since the keyboard only connects to your iPad via bluetooth which is not harmful to your screen or any parts of your device. Also the magnet of the keyboard will not affect this kind of issue."

I highly recommend any of you with this issue to contact Logitech so they understand the levity of this issue at https://support.logitech.com. If anyone has any other ideas please reply.

My son had this problem with his iPad and Logitech keyboard. Thanks to this thread, and your suggestion to attach/detach the iPad several times, the screen came back - but only stays functional with the keyboard attached.

This sounds like the magnetic field created by the keyboard is just strong enough to, after nearly 3 years of use, cross a tolerance threshold for the iPad to result in interference. Although I would have expected the symptom to be reversed - snowy with the keyboard but fine without.

Bizarre...I need to check my warranty but it seems based on the original post that Apple may not honor replacement due to an apparent third party cause. I'm willing to try anyhow.

Wonderful timing on this as my son is just finishing senior year of high school (7 days left).

So connecting/disconnecting the magnet was more of short term solution for me. I went to the apple store and they thought the LCD screen connection was loose. They got the screen to work by "lightly" dropping it on the bottom right corner. This was also a short term solution, but they offered $85 for it as a trade in (64 GB ipad 3). I decided to try and fix it myself. Plenty of YouTube videos out there on how to disassemble your iPad. All mine needed was to disconnect and then reconnect the LCD screen (the LCD ribbon also needed to moved away from the side of the iPad).
