After upgrade to IOS 7, apps don't sync*

When synching with iTunes, I get an error message that is persistent.

After upgrading to IOS 7, there are a nmber of apps that were removed, and not reinstalled (presumably they are not compatible with IOS 7, or no longer availabl). A few of these apps I was able to re-download and that solved the problem. However, there are a number of apps that are no longer available and iTunes keeps trying to install them. I have unchecked them in the app sync list, but iTunes ignores this.

How do I get rid of these?

That was the first thing I tried - no luck

I found that if I re-dowload and install the app the message for just that app goes away. I can then delete it without any problem.

The problem is that there are a number of apps that are no longer available that were installed before I ugraded to the new IOS. Since I can't download again, I am stuck with no-way to remove them from the list.
